See readers, it's all ok, Peppa Pig did not actually eat my toddler. I wanted to blog more as there was a serious side, believe it or not, to my Silent Sunday photograph this week.
You may not know that Peppa has helped Tommy's raise £900 000 since 2005. That is a lot of money. Asda has helped considerably by hosting Peppa in their stores across the UK, and by selling stickers, that are still available to purchase until the end of August. The stickers are only 75p and there are 3 different designs, perfect to pop into a travel bag for long journeys, or to use on those rare raining summer days when you are looking for activities for youngsters.
Tommy's is a cause close to my heart. They have two main roles, one is to conduct research into the causes of miscarriage, stillbirth and prematurity. The second is to provide information and advice to pregnant women and their partners. Their information services are second to none, and I would urge all pregnant women to look through the information available and use the midwife phone helpline service as well.
I strongly believe that the pre eclampsia research Tommy's undertake saved my life. And hopefully, over time, further research and advances in this area might help unlock more information about this evil condition, and hopefully further treatments, less drastic than speedy delivery of the baby.
So if your in ASDA, or popping past, go and pick up some stickers and help support the work of Tommy's. Keep your eye out for other fundraising events too.
