Tilda Kids - Rice and Veggies

It's Britmums this week and I thought I would do some posts around this. Tilda Kids are one of the sponsors and I recently reviewed their rice pouches.

As I have discovered feeding a toddler isn't always easy, and I was really excited to discover Tilda Kids rice pouches, and was sent 4 to try.

Joseph is really reluctant to try rice, always has been, right from the baby rice days, and I had high hopes for Tilda Rice. The packaging is beautiful, and Joseph fell in love with Tilly the elephant and was eager to try it. One of the things I like about the packaging is if you turn it upside down, the contents are visible in a transparent window.

The rice can be cooked in a microwave just by snipping the corner of the pouch. If, like me, you don't own a microwave you can eat it by tipping it in a small non stick pan over a low heat with 2 teaspoons of water stirring gently.

The rice looks beautiful, gently coloured with the vegetables and Joseph really enjoyed cooking it with me, and it smells divine too. The Tilda Kids comes in four different flavours, Sweet Vegetable and Wholegrain Rice, Sunshine Vegetable Rice, Cheese and Tomato and Mild and Sweet Curry.

The packages come with serving suggestions, such as serving the Sunshine Vegetable Rice with fish, which I think is really helpful for preparing a quick nutritious meal.

Sadly, for us, Joseph wouldn't try it. He is a very textural eater and whilst he loved the concept, he just was very reluctant to eat it! I tried the Cheese and Tomato and Mild and Sweet Curry varieties and have to say, I loved them. You can taste the vegetables, they have plenty of flavour, and are a quick, easy meal or snack for an adult as well as a child. The flavours are quite complex too, so a great springboard for trying different things.  They are low in salt and fat, so are great as part of a healthy eating plan. Each pouch also includes one of your 5 a day, so that's reassuring too.

The Tilda Kids range retails for £1.15 per pack and is available at Tesco, most Asda, Waitrose and Morrison stores and also at Ocado.
